Ben Tre is situated on a plain of 1.25 meter average height and a 65 km coast. It is surrounded by Tien Giang, Vinh Long, and Tra Vinh. The four main rivers are Tien Giang, Ba Lai, Ham Luong, and Co Chien. The annual average temperature varies between 26 and 27°C. The main ethnic group populating in this area is the Kinh.
Economic potentialities: agriculture, fishery, processing industry.
Ben Tre is well known as the motherland of poet Nguyen Dinh Chieu. Tan Vinh Islet is also a famous tourist site.

Ben Tre is 14km from Mytho, and 86km from Ho Chi Minh City. Ben Tre is an island province accessible by ferry from Mytho.
